Today we meet Jesus in the DESERT. A mute place were men, in this case Jesus, often hear God's voice.
This time Jesus meets Satan, who exposes Him to the test.
A few days ago we began Lent, which should be for us ,a time and DESERT place. A time in which we will have an occasion to hear God's voice but also a time in which our faith will be subjected to temptation. Perhaps it will be for us a good exam to see how strong our love is for God.
The same devil who tempted Jesus, deceives us today. Satan is a specialist, "dressed as evil in a good coat" and always makes us think that everything we are doing is good.
We see Jesus' first trouble in the DESERT was hunger. If Jesus had changed the rocks to bread, then He would have heard Satan and fulfilled his will thus manifests the guile of Satan which usually asks us about good and natural things.
In our life, Satan wants to convince us that everything we want is necessary to live and consistent with our nature. Money, conveniences, position, are all natural because we are living to cater to our needs. It depends only on us what we answer to Satan the next time we meet him.
Do we believe him, that God created everything FOR us and we can do EVERYTHING?
Maybe the experience of the DESERT will teach us attitudes of repentance and humility and to explore God's will.
It will teach us that maybe we need a lot but only for one reason, that the world becomes a better place because of it.
