Today, Jesus speaking about the Kingdom of God, tells the story of the king who gave a wedding banquet for his son.
When everything was ready, he sent his messengers to call those who had been invited--"everything is ready, come to the wedding banquet."
But what happens?
All refuse, all have something more important to do at this time.
Unbelievable. No one accepted the invitation to the wedding banquet of the royal son?
Today when we look at the other side of this parable, we can easily relate to all these people, and certainly, we cannot say it was a wise decision. Because in life you have to use common sense. You can decide what is important and what is most important, but you cannot refuse.
The feast in today's gospel is a picture of salvation. None of us can say we have not been invited. The king, in this case God, clearly states--"Go therefore into the main streets, and invite everyone."
And so the situation is repeated today.
Let's try to see within ourselves. Maybe, sometimes we recklessly despise God's invitation also. In any event, we must give to God and not reject the invitation. And if we already accept the invitation, are we aware it is not enough just to be?
God wants us to not only enter the Kingdom of Heaven. This invitation is not only to participate in the event. God's invitation is an invitation to the community. To stay together and share in the common joy.
Today, each of us, is once again invited. Once again we have TIME to not only answer but to get ready.
Do not waste time nor the invitation.
