Today's readings have a theme of "the road".
Abraham was asked by God to journey, a journey into the unknown. However, despite the uncertainties, Abraham trusted in God and agreed.
The apostles who witnessed the Transfiguration of Jesus on the mountain were also invited to journey. Going into the city, they had witnessed the Divinity of Jesus and His preaching of the gospel.
We are also a people to whom God offers an invitation. At the time of our Baptism, we began this journey into the unknown. We only know just so much about this road, as it runs out once we leave this earth. However, the next and final stage begins -the stage of winners.
This Sunday of Lent is an opportunity to once again consciously enter on to this road which is proposed by God. This proposal is our invitation to get out of the routine of our daily life. Come out of our lives in which we feel comfortable and safe and to choose the path which is unknown, but, is the road to God.
Of course in our own way we have a chance to win a lot of happiness, but, it will be temporary. In God's way we have a chance to win everything -we have a chance to win life -everlasting life.
This decision is not easy, but, we who have made the same decision as did Abraham and the apostles, we know that it is never easy, but, thanks to our trust in God we are victorious.
