Today we see two great men, Peter and Paul.
There is no reason to think of the church as some institution or organization that began 2000 years ago. Thanks to them this church still exists and is still alive.
When we think about church very often we see the figure of Jesus and people who knew Him personally, and saints who gave their lives to Him.
When we are thinking about church we also see beautiful and majestic buildings which were founded and built by people for the great glory of God.
When we think about church we see pope, bishops, priests, religious and lay people who like us.. are workers, employees working in God's institution.
When we think about church we also see many mistakes in the past, bad decisions and sins. But, my proposal today is, when we think about church we must see, first of all, these men, Peter and Paul, not as saints but like one of us. We must see fishermen without education and clerks with education who know many languages. We must see you and I, normal, everyday people with and without wisdom, hard workers and not hard workers, with happiness and complaining, but most important with love for Jesus.
When we are thinking about church we cannot go to the past, we must stop and see the present. 2000 years ago Jesus built His church on Peter and Paul. Similarly, today, He is building on my life.
We can say today, do I know that I am really responsible for this church?
So, when I am thinking about church, I should see myself and I should know, that I am one of the pillars of this mystical building, which is church.
